Office Refurbishment in Northampton – Hotel Chocolat

Meridian Interiors approached the project with careful consideration of the building’s structure and the needs of Hotel Chocolat’s brand. We designed a layout that would maximise both the aesthetics and functionality of the space, integrating existing architectural columns to divide areas and using new crittall glazed partitioning to let natural light flow into spaces where external windows were unavailable.

To meet the acoustic requirements, we incorporated crittall double-glazed acoustic partitions for both the boardroom and conference areas.  Drywall partitions were constructed using acoustic performance plasterboard for the boardroom to minimise noise transference between spaces. Above the boardroom ceiling acoustic sound pads were installed to further enhance the acoustic performance of the spaces.

The boardroom and Welcome Area benefited from several service alterations to ensure an optimal experience. These included independently controlled HVAC and lighting systems, allowing the spaces to adapt to different needs and functions.

A key feature of the boardroom was the bespoke design of the feature wall, which mirrored the iconic Hotel Chocolat storefronts. Charcoal-coloured oak slatting was used at the centre, flanked by matching grey painted walls. To complete the branded visual, a 3D acrylic sign was positioned on the feature slatting, ensuring the Hotel Chocolat logo is a prominent focal point when video conferencing is taking place.

In the open-plan area Meridian suspended acoustic dividing panels in natural colours with an etched leaf pattern, creating a soft level of demarcation between spaces. This allows the area to flow while maintaining distinct areas for various activities. A functional storage unit with integrated planter boxes also served as a clever divider, providing both organisational uses and soft touches of Biophilia.

For more informal meetings, we created a small meeting area featuring an elliptical table surrounded by three stools, all of which featured integrated storage, and each stool neatly tucked away under the table surface. This added an extra level of versatility to the space.

A new Welcome Area was created offering a stylish seating area with three contemporary sofas in a dark green Camira fabric, arranged to create a relaxed yet professional environment.
