Meridianâs approach to this project began with understanding the unique requirements for each room type and its intended purpose. We focused on meeting the needs of three distinct areas: Internal Meeting Rooms, Visitor Meeting Rooms, and Training Rooms. Each room was designed with user comfort and functionality at its core.
As part of the planning process, we arranged a showroom visit in London where the client explored various furniture styles and finishes. This hands-on approach allowed the client to make informed decisions, which were followed up with a Finishes Meeting to finalise fabric and colour choices.
Internal Meeting Rooms
For the internal meeting rooms, we designed four spaces specifically tailored to the needs of Thermo Fisher employees. A functional boardroom table was selected for each room, with built-in worktop connectivity, to facilitate ease of working and enable seamless conferencing. The chairs chosen were modern and ergonomically designed, prioritising comfort, as users may spend extended periods in these spaces.
Visitor Meeting Rooms
The visitor meeting rooms mirrored the setup of the internal rooms but were designed to a higher specification to impress external clients and guests. The tables were selected with rounded corners and a vase-shaped feature, which not only offered a modern aesthetic but also ensured that video conferencing would capture everyone at the table due to the tapered shape. Complementing the table were fully upholstered, high-back boardroom chairs with armrests and castors, ensuring maximum comfort for guests during their meetings.
Training Rooms
The training rooms, designed to accommodate nationwide conferences, were furnished with highly flexible and interchangeable desking. This allowed for various room layouts, including town hall, classroom, and U-shape configurations.
A combination of rectangular and deltoid tables was used to provide versatility, with each table mounted on castors for ease of movement. The tables could also be flipped up and stored compactly when not in use. The stackable chairs, featuring fixed armrests for comfort, were designed for easy storage and were upholstered in a vibrant red fabric to align with the companyâs branding.
The selected furniture for each area of the building reflects a careful balance between functionality, aesthetics, and user comfort. By considering the specific needs of each space, we were able to deliver a solution that supports Thermo Fisherâs corporate culture, enhances employee and visitor experiences, and facilitates a range of activities from collaborative meetings to large-scale training sessions.
