Meridian In Focus: Our Team
Project Management Debut
As a key member of the projects team, Rhys usually gets to focus on the estimating side of our business, but recently he has had the opportunity to dip his toe into Project Management, when he took on the responsibility of delivering a large fit-out project in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
Rhys took on this challenge; from estimating the project and seeing it through to completion, learning how clear communication and planning are integral to offering a proficient customer experience.
The biggest challenge Rhys experienced was time management, due to the nature of project managing a contract with such a varied scope of works. This was an excellent learning opportunity for Rhys, who is planning to apply the knowledge learned during this experience in his estimating management role and development, for both his and Meridianâs future.

Work Experience Placement
Each year, Meridian Interiors welcomes a work experience placement student from a local school. This year, we had a student from Bletchley College, with a keen interest in interior design, join us for a week. As well as spending time with each department, we were able to offer the experience of site visits and surveys. Our student then had the opportunity to create their own office design, working from a brief, using our experienced staff as a resource, and then presenting their ideas to the Managing Director at the end of the week.
We all enjoyed this experience and itâs good to be able to share our expertise with the next generation of budding office interior designers.
Workspace Design Show
On 28th February our Project Designer, Ali visited the Business Design Centre in London to attend the âWorkspace Design Showâ to check out the upcoming trends in the world of office interiors.
He really enjoyed his visit, embracing the opportunity to connect with numerous suppliers and experience their products firsthand.
A standout highlight from his experience was an impressive range of pods on several stands, but one that caught Aliâs eye was equipped with the innovative ability to switch the glass to opaque, with a push of a button.
Another area showcased outdoor seating options, incorporating solar charging and an electric bike charging stand.
Sustainability was highlighted at the show and as a designer, Ali is always looking for ways to add more sustainability into his Meridian Interior project designs, so finding unique acoustic wall products crafted from biomaterials or upholstered rPET materials and furniture that was made from re-used textile waste, that was visually appealing, was inspiring.
Another manufacturer featured unique furniture crafted from foam that can be molded into various forms and recycled to create new pieces. And finally, who doesnât like a feature wall adorned with Chupa Chups lollipops! As you can imagine, this attracted quite a crowd to their stand!Ali is looking forward to the next Workspace Design Show and the opportunity to explore more innovative designs and solutions.
