Design Approach: Meridian Interior’s Project Designer, Ali, utilised his expertise to maximise the use of the small office footprint. He developed a 2D layout that clearly demonstrated the flow of movement within the space, making sure it remained functional, while maintaining a sense of openness. Additionally, an elevation drawing was produced to provide the client with a comprehensive view of how the design elements would come together in three dimensions.
Once the design was approved, our Project Management team began the task of transforming the design into reality.
Initial Strip-Out: Removal of old flooring, suspended ceilings, and trunking from both sides of the office, to prepare the space ready for refurbishment.
Creation of a Corner Office: A semi-private workspace was created with glazing on one side, ensuring light flow into the space, while maintaining privacy.
Zoning of Open-Plan Space: The open-plan area was divided into distinct zones including a briefing and meeting area, training lounge, and tea point, using a combination of wall graphics and floor coverings.
A practical, safety-compliant vinyl floor was installed in the tea point for durability and easy maintenance.
Colour Scheme and Furniture: A modern colour palette of anthracite grey, light grey, and white was chosen to give the office a fresh, contemporary feel.
White furniture and light grey, modern-style sofas added to the sense of space and lightness.
Bespoke Furniture Piece: The client challenged Meridian to source a unique coffee table that would reflect their aviation heritage. We found a UK-based supplier specialising in bespoke aviation furniture, resulting in a striking Red Arrow engine coffee table, made from a real refurbished engine. This centerpiece came with an authentication certificate, which the client plans to frame and display.
Signage and Graphics: External window graphics and signage were installed to aid wayfinding and to reinforce the company’s brand identity.
Conclusion: The project successfully transformed the Cirrus Aircraft office into a functional, stylish work environment. The clever use of zoning, modern colour schemes, and bespoke furniture helped create a unique office environment, that aligns with the client’s brand and operational needs.
